• New Backup Status — For Spanning Backup for Google Workspace, use the Google Workspace view to manage domain/organization mappings, view license and storage information, and check the status of a domain’s recent backups.

• Dismiss selected alerts in bulk (select by severity, customer or both). This feature can be used by superusers only.
• Dismiss selected alerts by asset.
• Configure multiple PSA integrations (ConnectWise Manage and Autotask).
• Column sorting on the Appliance Details >Alerts and Jobs tabs.
• When adding a user with the Admin, Manage or Monitor role, you now must assign at least one scope (scope assignment was optional in past releases).
• Bug fix – Jobs > Scheduled tab – Next Run column no longer displays dates for jobs that have already run.

• NEW - Custom thresholds for BackupIQ Alerting conditional alarms: Create custom thresholds and apply them to organizations.
• NEW - Add an appliance by simply entering the backup.net ID into the appliance UI (Edit Appliance dialog).
• Streamlined login flow with easy two-factor authentication (2FA) setup.
• • UI enhancements - Moved the left menu to the top to yield more real estate on each page and ensure graceful resizing.Quickly modify multiple public API credentials (Integrations > Manage APIs).
• Settings > Users > Last Seen column shows the number of days since the user’s last login.

The following were included with release 2.14:

• NEW - Kaseya Billing Management System (BMS) integration syncs your alerts with your favorite PSA ticketing system.
• BackupIQ Alerting conditional alarms now generate tickets for Datto Autotask integrations.
• Customers are now known as organizations in the Unitrends Portal.
• Batch organization mapping for these PSA integrations: ConnectWise Manage, Autotask and BMS to make your life easier.

The following were included with release 2.17:

• Additional job statuses
  • On the Assets page, a checkmark indicates that the recovery point has been certified by a data copy access (DCA) job.
  • On the Asset Details page, the text Certified indicates that the recovery point has been certified by a DCA job and indicates that the DCA job ran with warnings.
    
• NEW - Tooltips - Hover over icons for additional information.
• NEW - Dashboard button for quick access to the Kaseya One application launcher (this button displays only if you are currently logged in to Kaseya One).

The following were included with release 2.16:

• NEW - Clickable alerts & alarms – Click Alarms, Critical or Warnings in the Alerts tiles on the Dashboard, Appliance Detail and Organization pages to quickly view details in BackupIQ without manually applying filters.
• NEW - ? button for quick access to additional resources. Auto task integration – Streamlined integration and management tasks, added ticket priority level settings for alarms, critical alerts and warnings.
• Auto task integration - Streamlined integration and management tasks, added ticket priority level settings for alarms, critical alerts and warnings.
• Updated page layouts - For easy access, tabs have been moved to the left and filters display without clicking a button.
• Column sorting - Modified default sorting to move important items to the top (e.g., appliances with 20% or less space remaining, longest running active jobs, most recent Last Local Backup).

In this release, we continue to streamline workflows and find ways to reduce clicks. A few highlights:

We’ve updated our dashboard with updated tiles and icons for a fresh look and feel

Once an alert condition has been resolved, we’ll automatically remove the alert from BackupIQ. If you have integrated your PSA (BMS, Autotask, or ConnectWise Manage), you can opt to automatically change the status associated tickets in your PSA as alerts are removed from BackupIQ.

You can now quickly connect to an appliance right from BackupIQ. While viewing an alert, simply click the ↗ next to the appliance name.

New Offline Alerts

• Unitrends Portal now sends email notifications when an appliance goes offline. These alerts enable partners and IT admins to act quickly to keep backup running for their customers and users.
  • Go to My Settings -> Alerts and configure an email address to start receiving alerts via email.

Welcome to Release 2.20

• Video Tutorials are now available! You can access these instructional videos right from the Portal by selecting > Video Tutorials.

• BackupIQ Conditional Alarm Optimization

  • To reduce alert noise, conditional alarms are now generated only for assets that are protected by a Unitrends backup schedule. A backup alarm is generated if the backup does not complete successfully within X hours or days of the job’s scheduled start time. A replication alarm is generated if the successful backup is not replicated within X hours or days of the backup job’s end time.

• Updated Email Alert Templates

  • Emails have been updated with a modern layout including new fonts for a fresh look and feel.

• Appliances Page Optimizations

  • ‘Order By’ filter list now includes appliance Free Space and Version
  • By default, the page is now sorted by free space (ascending) and appliance version (descending)

• Assets Page Optimizations

  • New! The ‘Last Certified’ column now shows the number of minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months since a backup has been certified by a data copy access (DCA) job.
  • The icons for Recent Local Backups and Recent Replications are larger and brighter for easy scanning.

• New IT Glue Integration — You can now synchronize your assets and appliances with Kaseya’s IT Glue documentation platform. This enables IT Glue users to:
  • View backup configuration information from the Unitrends Portal.
  • Display backup status, last backup time and storage for endpoints in IT Glue.
  • Ensure organizations and assets from the Unitrends Portal are automatically mapped to
  • IT Glue organizations and configurations.
• VSA Integration — A Download Manifest button has been added to existing VSA integrations so you can quickly download and install the latest TAP module.
• Email Alerts — Email notifications are now sent any time an appliance has been offline for a specified period of time (one hour by default), when a conditional alarm threshold is crossed or when a Helix failure occurs.
  • Once the alert condition has been resolved, the Unitrends Portal automatically removes the alert from BackupIQ and emails notification that the alert has been dismissed.
• UI Enhancements —
  • Backup Status Page: The Appliances page is now called the Backup Status page. Click Backups at the top of the screen to launch the page.
    • Use this page to access Appliances, Assets and Agents views.
• Settings Page: For quick access, simply click Settings at the top of the screen to launch the Settings page.
• Organizations Page: You can now delete an organization right from the Organizations page by clicking the vertical ellipses and selecting Delete.
• Backup Status > Appliances View: Clicking Show Assets now lists only assets that are currently protected by a Unitrends backup schedule.
  • Assets that have been backed up but are not included in an enabled backup schedule are now listed under Unprotected Assets.
• Backup Status > Assets View: Clickable Recent Local Backups and Recent Replications icons now enable you to click an icon to view assets details, hover to see job details.
• Help Menu > What’s New: Unitrends Portal (UniView) release information now displays on Unitrends.com (rather than within the Unitrends Portal UI).
• New fonts, icons and styles in UI elements.

Welcome to Release 2.22

Unitrends aims to make backup management hassle-free for seamless protection of your data, wherever it lives. This month’s release includes:

• BackupIQ Alerts —
  • Alerts are now grouped in these categories: Helix updates, Appliance is offline alerts, Backup agent upgrade available, Storage problems, High storage growth, Inventory Sync warning, Licensing issues, Password changed, Reboot required, Replica failures and Ransomware.
  • Alerts are now generated for appliances running Unitrends release 10.6.1 or higher only. If you have older appliances, the UI displays a banner listing appliances that must be upgraded to receive alerts.
  • To customize the alerts you receive, you can now enable or disable alerts by category. Go to Settings > Alerts and simply click a toggle to enable or disable a category.
  • Email Alerts: Email notifications are now sent for all alerts. For appliance offline and conditional alarms, the Unitrends Portal (UniView) automatically removes the alert from BackupIQ once the alert condition has been resolved and emails a notification that the alert has been dismissed. Other alerts must be dismissed manually.
• New Organization Mapping for PSA Integrations — You can now quickly map organizations to PSA accounts or companies while adding or modifying your PSA integration. No need to go to the Organizations page.
• UI Enhancements —
  • Dashboard: New Low Space Appliances tile added to see whether any appliance has less than 30% space available. Click the tile to view low space appliances in the Appliances view.
  • BackupIQ, Asset Detail > Job Log: The log display has been widened for easier viewing.
  • Jobs Page: For quick access, the Recent Jobs view now displays by default.
  • Jobs Page: Added an Appliance column to the Scheduled Jobs view.
  • New colors, fonts, icons and styles in UI elements.

• New Replication Job Log — On the Asset Detail page, simply click a replication status icon in the Recovery Points table to view job log details.
• New Video Tutorials — Check out these new tutorials right from your portal by selecting the (?) icon > Video Tutorials.

• BackupIQ Alerts — Alerts now display in BackupIQ for appliances running a Unitrends release earlier than 10.6.1.

• New Cooper Insights — The Cooper Intelligence Engine provides insights designed to help you get the most out of your Kaseya modules. Once you have integrated IT Complete, the Unitrends Automated Backup Testing insight is enabled and added to Cooper if you have not started using Unitrends Data Copy Access (DCA) jobs to certify recoverability of backups.

• New KaseyaOne SSO Features —
  • IT Complete (KaseyaOne) is Kaseya’s integrated platform of IT and security management solutions. If an IT Complete integration has been added to your Unitrends Portal (UniView), you can now set up log in with IT Complete right from KaseyaOne.
  • Enhanced security for log in with IT Complete — logging out of the Unitrends Portal now also logs you out of KaseyaOne.
• UI Enhancements —
  • Appliances view and Appliance Details page now displays the number of unprotected assets for Show Unprotected Assets. For example, Show Unprotected Assets (27).
  • New colors, fonts, icons and styles in UI elements.

• New Dark Theme View — With Dark Theme View, UI pages display with a dark background. To enable Dark Theme View, click your username and select the Dark Theme toggle.
• UI Enhancements — Updated the favicon that displays in the web browser tab.
• Conditional Alarm Threshold — To reduce alert noise, a single threshold alert now displays for any given asset.
• Fixed — An issue with BMS integration that could impact alerts, importing accounts and the ability to modify/save integration settings.

• New Cooper Insights — The Cooper Intelligence Engine provides insights designed to help you get the most out of your Kaseya modules. Once you have integrated IT Complete, Unitrends insights are enabled and added to Cooper if trigger conditions are met. This release adds the following insights:
  • Backup Alerting: You can now set a threshold for how long machines can go without a good backup and receive BackupIQ alerts if the threshold is exceeded. This insight is sent if backup alerting has not been set up in the Unitrends Portal.
  • Replication Alerting: You can now set a threshold for how long machines can go without a good off-site replication (backup copy) and receive BackupIQ alerts if the threshold is exceeded. This insight is sent if backup alerting has not been set up in the Unitrends Portal.
  • PSA Ticketing Integration: You can now integrate your PSA system (BMS, Autotask, ConnectWise Manage) so that each BackupIQ alert also creates a ticket in the PSA. This insight is sent if PSA system has now been integrated.
  • PSA Ticket Inbox: You can now map your Unitrends Portal organizations to PSA companies or accounts to ensure tickets are assigned to the correct queue. This insight is sent if no organizations have been mapped to your PSA accounts or companies.

• New Cold Backup Copies — View information about our cold backup copies residing on storage managed by other storage providers (e.g., Amazon S3, Rackspace) or on other backup copy media (e.g., tape or NAS device).
  • Asset Page: The Last Replication column is now called Last Backup Copy and shows the time elapsed since the most recent hot or cold backup copy.
  • Asset Page: Recent Replications is now called Recent Backup Copies. Status icons report information for both hot and cold backup copies. Hover over the icon to see the number of hot and cold copies for the given day.
  • Asset Detail Page: The Recovery Points Replication column is now called Backup Copies. Status icons report information for both hot and cold backup copies. Hover over the icon to see the number of hot and cold copies for the given day.
    • Click a recovery point to view the updated Job Log, which includes tabs for local backups, hot copies and cold copies.
• Fixed — An issue that enabled users to delete a scope assigned to users or organizations. With this fix, the following message displays if a user attempts to delete an assigned scope: This scope has been assigned to users or organizations. Please unassign all users and organizations before removing a scope.

Welcome to Release 2.28

Unitrends aims to make backup management hassle-free for seamless protection of your data, wherever it lives. This month’s release includes:

• Conditional Alarm Thresholds — Conditional alarms enable you to set a threshold against the last good backup and last good replicated backup (backup copy). If the threshold is crossed (e.g., there has been no good backup/backup copy in more than X hours/days), an alert is added to BackupIQ.
  • Note: To reduce alert noise, backups and replicated backups that ran with warnings are now considered good backups when checking whether a conditional alarm threshold has been crossed. In prior releases, only backups that ran successfully with no warnings were considered good.
• UI Enhancements — Updates to colors, buttons, table styles and dashboard tiles. Added avatars to user icon.
• Fixed — An issue where integration with Kaseya VSA failed if the VSA hostname contained uppercase letters.

• New Cooper Insights — The Cooper Intelligence Engine provides insights designed to help you get the most out of your Kaseya modules. Once you have integrated IT Complete, Unitrends insights are enabled and added to Cooper if trigger conditions are met. This release adds the following insights:
  • Appliance Updates: Keeping your Unitrends appliance(s) up to date is critical for optimal security and performance and ensures you benefit from the latest features and fixes. This insight is sent if Helix auto updates have not been enabled on any of your Unitrends appliance(s).
  • Backup Copies: Be prepared for any disaster by storing copies of your backups off-site. This insight is sent if you have not set up a backup copy job on any of your Unitrends appliance(s)
  • PSA Ticketing: Save time with automated ticketing updates. This insight is sent if your PSA integration settings have not been configured to automatically close tickets by status.
• New Alerts for Spanning Microsoft 365 Backup — You can now integrate the Unitrends Portal (UniView) with Spanning Backup for Microsoft 365 to receive BackupIQ alerts for partial and failed backups.

Unitrends aims to make backup management hassle-free for seamless protection of your data, wherever it lives. We are proud to introduce the next generation of UniView (formerly Unitrends Backup Portal). We’re quickly transitioning from our first generation UniView into a second-generation native single-page application (UniView 2.0).

This month’s release includes:

• UI Enhancements —
  • Updated logos and branding from Unitrends Backup to UniView.
  • In the top navigation bar, Settings has been replaced with a gear icon.
  • Integrations > API Access: The Public API view is now called API Access.
  • VSA Integrations: The portal TAP module is now called UniView.vsaz.
  • Table Sorting: Arrows used to sort by column now display without hovering.
• Note — If the logos and branding you see in your currently deployed VSA module do not look like this new UniView module, you may be using a prior version of the TAP module for the Unitrends Backup Portal platform. As of January 2023, module branding has been modified, but no other functional changes exist. We do not recommend that customers uninstall the older module to use the newer module since this will impact existing mappings (e.g., UniView user accounts mapped to KaseyaOne accounts for single sign-on and assets mapped to VSA IDs).

• New Backup Status —For Spanning Backup for Microsoft 365, use the Microsoft 365 view to manage domain/organization mappings, view license and storage information, and check the status of a domain’s recent backups.

• Enable log in with KaseyaOne — If you are logged in to UniView with superuser credentials, you can now enable log in with KaseyaOne and integrated IT Complete right from the top menu bar.

Welcome to Release 2.35

Unitrends aims to make backup management hassle-free for seamless protection of your data, wherever it lives. This month’s release includes:

• New Integration for Datto Continuity for Microsoft Azure (DCMA) — You can now integrate your Datto Portal to receive DCMA backup alerts in UniView. These backup alerts are also displayed in your Datto Portal.

• UI – Appliance and Appliance Details — Show Assets has been moved to the left and is now called Show Protected Assets. Once you are viewing assets, click Show Protected Assets again to hide the list.

  • Hide Assets has been removed.

• Integration – Spanning Backup for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace — When adding the UniView integration to your Spanning Backup instance, you can now enter text to filter UniView organizations list, removing the need to scroll through the entire list.

Welcome to Release 2.34

Unitrends aims to make backup management hassle-free for seamless protection of your data, wherever it lives. This month’s release includes:

• Settings > Users — Use the vertical ellipsis to remove a user’s two-factor authentication (2FA) in the event a user loses their device. Once 2FA is reset, user is prompted to configure 2FA on their new device. Any recovery codes from the previous configuration are no longer valid.
  • Note: This feature replaces the Reset Authentication toggle, which was located on the Edit User page.

• Dashboard — Updated page layout, columns and tiles for ease of use.
• Backup Status — Spanning Backup for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace storage values now include one decimal place. Values may be expressed in B, KB, MB, GB, TB or PB.

• Security — Applied security updates.

Unitrends aims to make backup management hassle-free for seamless protection of your data wherever it lives. This month’s portal release includes:

• New Backup Status — Datto Continuity for Microsoft Azure (DCMA) View: Use the DCMA view to quickly see summary and status information about the assets you’re protecting with the Datto DCMA backup product. For details, see Working with Datto Continuity for Microsoft Azure in the UniView Portal Guide.
• New PSA Ticketing for DCMA Backup Alerts: If you’ve integrated your PSA system (Autotask, BMS or ConnectWise Manage), BackupIQ creates a ticket in your PSA for each DCMA backup alert.
• New Email Notifications for DCMA Backup Alerts: You can now opt in to receive email notifications for DCMA backup alerts.
• New Appliance Detail — Support Tunnel: On the Appliance Detail page, you can now open a secure tunnel connection to the appliance for Support to quickly troubleshoot issues.
• UI: Notifications have a new look and are displayed at the bottom of the page.

Unitrends aims to make backup management hassle-free for seamless protection of your data wherever it lives. This month’s portal release includes:

• New Appliance Update Alerts — On the Appliance and Appliance Details pages, the Appliance Version now displays in yellow text if the appliance is not running the latest Unitrends software version.
• Appliance Details Page — On the Appliance Details page, a message and link to the latest Release Notes now display above the Appliance Version.
• KaseyaOne Log In — The latest security updates and enhancements were applied on July 4 (Release 2.36-2) to our KaseyaOne single sign-on (SSO) functionality.

• New Backup Policies for Windows Image-level Assets — From the Backup Status > Assets page, quickly view and manage policies that define the frequency at which backups are taken for your Windows image-level assets. Set or remove policies for multiple assets in a single operation.
  • Note: Backup policies utilize the Incremental Forever backup strategy. We recommend setting a policy in UniView for easier management unless you need more advanced settings (e.g., inclusion/exclusion lists).
  • To set a backup policy, simply select one or more assets and define the backup frequency. For details, see Working with backup policies in the UniView Portal Guide.

Welcome to Release 2.38

Unitrends aims to make backup management hassle-free for seamless protection of your data wherever it lives. This month’s portal release includes:

• New Login to Spanning — Use our one-click authentication to log into Spanning Backup for Microsoft 365 or Spanning Backup for Google Workspace, right from the Backup Status > Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace view.
• New Spanning Backup Status — You can now quickly see the backup status of each domain’s for the last 30 days.
  • Green:
    indicates that the last backup on this day was successful. Hover to view the date and number of problems.
  • Yellow:
    indicates that the last backup on this day was partially completed. Hover to view the date and number of problems.
  • Red:
    indicates that the last backup on this day failed. Hover to view the date and number of problems.
  • Grey:
    indicates that there are no backups. Hover to view the date.

V.2.40

• New Integrated Customer Billing for Spanning Microsoft 365 Backup and Spanning Google Workspace Backup — You can now post license information to your Autotask, BMS or Vorex PSA. Once you have integrated your PSA, KaseyaOne and Spanning Backup with UniView, you can set up mappings to update Spanning license data nightly in your PSA. This license data can then be used by your PSA when generating invoices.

  • Backup policies utilize the incremental forever backup strategy. We recommend setting a policy in UniView for easier policy management unless you need to exclude disks or volumes from the backup (use the local UI in these situations).

  • If you enable access groups, role-based access control from KaseyaOne will be allowed for the module. Define mapping rules (by mapping KaseyaOne groups to UniView organizations) to control user access. See KaseyaOne: Manage groups for additional details.
  • Once access groups are enabled, groups are managed through KaseyaOne only. UniView’s Settings > Groups page allows you to view groups, but they are not editable through the UniView portal.   • You want the tenant, domain or organization removed now rather than waiting for them to be automatically removed.
  • You are preparing to transition the tenant, domain or organization to a different Spanning Backup reseller. Removing the tenant, domain or organization unlinks the reseller ID from its Spanning Backup account. After the reseller’s ID has been unlinked, a new reseller ID can be assigned without any interruption to their Spanning Backup protection. You can then add the tenant, domain or organization back to UniView (as described in Integrating a Microsoft 365 tenant, Integrating a Google Workspace domain or Integrating a Salesforce organization).
